On the contrary, I have heard horror stories of bags either being left behind or just completely misconnecting only at T5 !

I would give at least 3 hours for any sort of connection at Heathrow.

As far as I know though, SWISS would interline to Virgin even though not in alliance. Just make sure you show them all the reservation information to SWISS agent at time of check in.
