Taxi drivers not knowing where places are and some having poor driving skills is not isolated to Melbourne and have come across that across Australia.
Having taxis not turn up when booked is again a problem that isnt isolated to Melbourne .
All very true that it isn't isolated or unique to Melbourne, but the frequency that all of the issues have occurred to me is much, much higher in Melbourne than any other city I've visited or lived in.
The significant amounts of card fraud I've experienced have (with one exception - which was an Ottawa taxi) all been Melbourne taxi related, pre-the electronic machines becoming common.
