Of course Apple would say that -- what you need is Doubletwist. This is a free app that syncs your Android phone with iTunes (along with video and podcasts if you want).

A paid upgrade even allows for Wi-Fi syncing of your tunes.

That said - this will only work if your music is not tied down by DRM from Apple - essentially a rights management system that locks you in with them. Through iTunes you can upgrade your music and pay them to release the hostages.
