Honestly, thanks for the advice, but it is not what I want to hear...

Everyone keeps telling me to purchase this or that in order to be able to get to the music I have already paid for.... and this is not even going to help with the videos I have purchased. Am I getting this right? or am I still confused?

so, basically if this is the only way I can get my music, I will just wash my hands of it and repurchase the songs I seem to listen to the most (from amazon or somewhere else that I can move my stuff around if I want) and wash my hands of apple for good. Lesson learned the hard way.
