The coastal train was my favourite thing about Lisbon. It's ridiculously cheap (by British train standards). Cascais is at the end of the line but Estoril is also a nice seaside town and there are other stops on the way. You can get off a Estoril and walk the mile or so to Cascais along the promenade. It's a nice walk with plenty of bars and restaurants along the way.
Agreed, all terribly easy and cheap, and the whole train journey takes only 30 minutes or so anyway, and runs every 15 or 20 minutes. Definitely recommended!
