AA LAX-DFW in F

Here is my first trip report. Not sure anyone cares. Just coming home. About as exciting as someone posting atrip report for a train commute from NJ to NYC.

AA 2466 LAX-DFW
5:40 departure
Seat 1B

At LAX

I arrived at LAX terminal 4. I told the cabbie to drop me off at the first/biz. class entrance to the terminal. I intended to check in at the AC, but I left my itinerary printout at my desk, so I had to check in downstairs. No one in line in front of me. Short wait to get an agent. He quickly checked me in. AAirpass this time, and he knows how to do it (lots of the agents don't).

Up to security. No line for girl checking credentials, as normal. Short lines for the two stations opened. Everyone in the line I am in is setting off the metal detector. Everyone is taking shoes off. The guy just tell me to take mine off before I even get to the machine. Shoes off. Laptop out of bag. Carry-on on belt, laptop on belt, laptop bag on belt, shoes on belt, bucket with pager and phone on belt, shoes on belt, jacket on belt. That's a lot of stuff to put on the belt! Walk through. It doesn't go off. I begin to gather my worldly possesions. Girl asks to check (i.e. sniff) the lap top. Fine I say. She does this as I put the soes on and gather all of my stuff. When I am done, lap top is ready. back in the bag it goes. I think they need to carpet those areas aroud security if we half to go through without shoes on.

Head up to the AC. Lady at the desk asks me if I was here earlier in the day. I was not. She says it must have been someone that looked like me (spooky thought). I told her I was here last week. I go upstairs, head for the bar. Sit down at the bar, as normal. Ordered a Sam Adams. Chat with the bartender (John). We talk about the new club. He isn't sure when it opens. He mentions that Qantas is moving to T4, and they will use the club too. Also, they will have custom/immigration facilities at T4 as well. Time to board. Head to gate 42B. Wait just 2 or 3 minutes, then board.

On Board 2466

I board the plane. Seat 1B bulkhead, so I have to store all my stuff overhead. No problem, really. Settle into the seat. Others board. First is filling up. FA offers pre-departure drinks. You can get anything you want, not just juice or water. I ask for a coke. Many PAX go for the chance to get a cocktail.

Everyone boards. F is full (as always) Y has 66. Everything is on time. Push pack, taxi out. We taxi onto 25R and go. Short ground roll, and we are off. Over the coast. left turn. down past Long Beach, turn again, and head to DFW.

FA takes dinner orders. Salmon, chicken, tortelini. I take salmon, and a vodka tonic to drink. Drink and nuts come. Then the table cloth. Salads come next (direct from galley, no cart). Its a basic ceasar, and I ask for ceasar dressing. Also, a sourdough roll and some white wine. I eat the entire salad. Dish gets cleared. A bit later, the entree comes. It looks OK. Slamon with teriyaki suace, rice, some veggies. It's all right, but way better than the bistro bag. I finish it all. Time to use the lav.

Back to my seat, and its sundae time. Hot fudge, with whipped cream an nuts. Yummy, as always. The *best* part of domestic F on AA, IMHO. I also ask for Baileys on ice. The FA pours two bottles over ice into a cocktail glass. All right!.

Arrival at DFW
We are making our approach to DFW. I'm still trying to finish the Bailey's. I didn't get ot finish it off. I look out the window, and notice we are landing on the east side of the field. Great. A long taxi, I think. We land, on time. Exit the runway. But we don't taxi over to B. The FA announces we will arrive at gate C3,200 (well, C32). Ughhh. that is almost at the end of terminal C.

I get off the plane. Head for the TrAAin station. Wait. And wait. Announcement on the PA says the TrAAin is out of service. Sorry.. Grrrrr....... I'm thinking techgirl sabotaged it earlier in the day.

The hike begins. Walk all the way to the end of C. Airport is *dead*, except one delayed departure to Tuscon. Walk across bridge to the end of A. Take escalator up to get bridge over to B. Walk over. Finnaly, in B, where I should have been when I got off the plane. I still need to hike down to B18, as that is where the entrance to the infield parking is. At least I got my exercise that night. I seriously thing AA should give me the miles I hiked.

Anyway, a normal trip. Nothing unusual, other than the arrival at C32. Service was efficient throughout the entire trip.
