ref bold section:
The http://pda.continental.com site has a "where is this aircraft coming from" link that will display the incbound aircraft being used for your flight, the aircraft fleet number, and the FLIFO, so that one can look to see if a delay can be expected. Perhaps that will be available when the sites are combined.
ost likely, that info would have been changed between the time they were using the LAX inbound to using the actual inbound. Even at UA, once they had a new aircraft routed (before it arrived) had he asked "where is the plane coming from?" he would have gotten the new info, just as he had gotten the old info about from LAx when that was the scheduled aircraft. Info is only as accurate at the time it is given, and when it changes, the old info is no longer accurate. He was given correct info at one time, as he kne that his LAX-ORD flight was the aircraft scheduled. Knowing it was out of service as he was on it when it went mx, he must have known that they were using a different aircraft. Why didn't he ask where that plane was coming from instead of complaining about the website explanation of why his flight was delayed?
