If the day is too short then I suggest you get out earlier in the morning instead of lying in bed.
Light around seven in the morning and getting dark just after six. Compared to a Scottish winter day that means four hours extra light here.....it's wonderful. ^
I prefer the capital in winter....not so keen being there on a hot summer day.
