Your post is exactly why DL hopes that you take your business elsewhere. They are cutting capacity so that they can sell J at J prices (or at least close to). If they can unload the guy who wants the seat for roughly $1K onto another carrier, cut back capacity and sell a Y seat for at least $1K and a J seat for $4-5K, DL has made a good decision.

This is particularly true on long-haul intl which meet federal travel rules for paid premium cabin given that many large businesses follow those rules.

In the end, DL wants to sell its BE product as true premium with lie flat, superb service and all that goes with it and leave the mid-market to AA.
