BA to stop serving champagne in First-Class [allegedly]
"In a blind tasting, Balfour Brut beats French champagnes like Veuve Clicquot and Laurent Perrier"
According to a source yesterday, BA has secured a deal to serve the English Sparkling wine from Hush Heath Kent, in first class and the lounges.
I do quite like English sparkling wines and I do hope BA change their website to reflect that they will no longer be serving chapagne in First-Class. That very statement alone I would hope would give pause for thought. That said it would appear to be too late.
Fortunately there are bottle chillers in the CW galley of a 744, not so sure about the 777, so at least first-class passengers can bring their own champagne for the flight. And what a name - Balfour Brut - it's sounds as though its something an infrastructure company would produce as a by product of road building. I'm sure it's very pleasant - but until I start to see it advertised widely as a premium brand, I fear it won't sit well especially in the Asian market.
