It is a stunningly designed property, especially if you take one of the proper suites like the Indrakila or Amankila.
I agree with you all. The resort is lovely and the Indrakila suite wonderful. A first timer would love it. It was however lacking the spirit - Tracy did not seem particularly interested and she seemed rather absent. For the true Amanjunkies I have the following observations:

1. The cordless phone in the Indrakila suite had no reception in the Bale by the pool (very disappointed);
2. The beach was full of litter (have some photos to prove it). Very disappointing especially as the beach staff was just sitting around doing nothing. In Amanpulo for example they clean the beach every morning (and that not from litter but seaweed!);
3. The Washbasin and shower drains were blocked (in the indrakila suite);
4. Several light bulbs in the pathways were out;
5. Was asked for room number twice;
6. Unlike other Amans, ringing up a GA for in villa dining you have to wait on the phone to be put through to room service (so Hyatt!)
7. Night reception staff, drivers and guides were lacking local knowledge and enthusiasm;
8. Going to the restaurant at 10pm, the staff were sitting in the corner looking disinterested;
9. Very unthoughtful gifts for turndown service and no gifts on departure;
10. Tracy was not around on departure as it was her day off. She could however say her goodbyes the night before.

I think a lovely resort but not the spirit and soul of other properties.
