I assume you are flying from the UK to New York. A total of 13,000 BAEC
miles is not sufficient for a meaningful transatlantic award (except for a one-way upgrade from Premium Economy to Club), and BAEC typically does not offer good value when redeeming for Economy class because you still must pay the fuel cost and APD on award tickets. Inasmuch as economy fares are primarily the cost of fuel, the miles don't result in much savings versus purchasing a ticket outright.
