Curious why you can't jb and carrier unlock?

Like OP, I'm in similar dilemma. Long time user of BB on TMO. Have owned a couple of iPhones that were jb/unlocked but always on edge speed. The major reason for not changing is TMO still offers flat rate for unlimited emails when traveling whereas Android requires different data program.

But I am thinking of walking into TMO store this week to get the Sensation [or wait hopefully to this fall when 'maybe' TMO will get the iPhone5?]
