Question Lifetime gold - worth fighting for?

Hi folks,

I am now 2 weeks away from the end of my gold card. Due to change of job and my first child arriving I have not been travelling this year at all and am sitting on a paltry 600 miles. I thought my membership expired end of August, as thats what its stated on my gold card, but i was told it expires in 17 days!! (July1st).

I have had my gold card for 9 consecutive years, so missing out on the renewal this year means the lifetime gold goes too. I still fly *A for hols etc, and am expecting a job change later this year that the *G will be a major benefit for.

I suppose the main value of the LTGold hinges on how long DC will be around...

Any advice on what I should do here??

----
forgot to mention, I reckon it could just about be done before the cut off -but will set me back a min of £2200 just for mileage runs, with no time able to be spent anywhere...
