The fare rules usually have a clause like "in case of an upsale the original non-refundable fare amount remains non-refundable"

I donīt care about refundability in this case, but Iīm considering using upgrade credits (the fare difference isnīt that big in this case, so it would be worth it if there were no change fee in addition to the fare difference)
