"no show" on redemption: what's the damage?

I'd booked a stop-over night with points, but managed to change my flight reservation to a much shorter connection.

Great!

Unfortunately, I completely forgot to cancel the room before the cut-off time. Total stupidity on my part, and I was resigned to losing my points - but now I remember something about them billing in $$$ for no shows. Not so great.

Does anyone have experience of what room rate they use for this - advanced purchase, fully flexible etc? And hopefully not the presidential suite they undoubtedly intended upgrading me to!
