The new new boarding seriously isn't working either
I was out of the country for 4 weeks, and just experienced the new boarding on Friday.
What a mess. I was flying out of SFO, and in hubs, where everyone is elite, the boarding through a single red carpet lane is a total mob scene.
Before, in the old process, when 1P/*G queued in the other lane, at least there was some semblance of order, and the gate lice weren't as thick.
But on my flight at SFO, I'd guess 50% of the plane was elite of some flavor, and it was intensely frustrating trying to wade through all of the people and get on the plane.
Before, there wasn't ambiguity as to where to stand in order to board. Now there's just an undifferentiated mass of people clotted around the red carpet.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the boarding process where the lower-tier elites line up to the side. Otherwise, why have a boarding order at all. What's next? Maybe doing it like the Tokyo Subway, and having guys with white gloves to push the people onto the plane?
This is ridiculous right now. I don't fly UAL twice a week, every week, to put up with this level of tomfoolery.
