Thumbs down MdC upgrades obese passenger due to obesity

On a recent flight a very obese North American gentlemen was moved up to business a few minutes before pushback by the MdC.

The passenger was moved purely because he was obese, from the depths of economy.

Said passenger returned to Y disturbing every aisle passenger to collect his baggage given the previous haste.

I find this unacceptable, this could have even been his game plan, considering he asked, it wasn't offered.

The PRM is clear, passenger must purchase two seats if he/she requires it due to obesity.

I was travelling from an outstation and not a good one at that, so perhaps check-in was not up to speed. But it's better for business to move a HON/SEN to create a middle seat free, or if not practicable the other economy passenger whose space he was infringing.

Being of North American nationality, and presumably not the first flight of his life the SOP of "no fit, buy another seat" is the same there.

FYI I only observed the situation.

Has anyone else witnessed these actions before?
