You can check on CX award availability at the Cathay Pacific web site (with Asiamiles account) or the Japan Airlines web site (with JAL Mileage Bank account). I have found the JAL web site to be more accurate for partner airlines, sometimes the CX web site will show availability for asiamiles redemption that is not available for partners. The JAL web site is also nice in that it shows the number of available seats.
