A Carnavours Heaven

Newself has been to Jocko's before and we go there early to get a good table. The place is hard to find becuase it does not advertise or have loud signs around.

JOCKOS stands for:

Jenuine (for genuine)
Oak
Coal
Kooks
Our
Steaks

It does not need to advertise. As you drive in the smell of barbeque hyponotises you and lures you into the small restaurant. We were greated by a beautiful so Cal woman I named "miss Christmas Tree" (for the Christmas tree hat on her head.) Her real name is Jeri and I sensed we three boys were goign to fight for her attention.

Jeri sat us next to the big window where the various meats were grilled to perfection. The smell was intoxicating and it was fun to see the "grill artists" at work getting the meats made to our perfection.

Our resident JOcko's expert newself (who like us had salavating mouths) suggested being three dudes we order their three best dishes and share:

Newself went with the BBQ Ribs
MileCrazy went with the Pork Chops (as large as the state of Minnesota!
I went with the usual New YOrk Strip MEDIUM (Not MEDIUM Well, I wanted to taste the meat!)

YOu thought the Meat was enough

Newself suggested we start with the very tasty and well grilled Lingusa (Portuguese sausage.) It's a great way to kick off an endless feast of meat.

Salad was included but we ate just enough as the meat was slowly grilled for our featings.

Between the salads (included) and the gigantic steak (the size of New York) and the endless ribs and very thick pork chops we had enough food for two or three days.

We split the meats and felt like we were in a carnavours heaven. The flavor of the pit and the sauces and the fresh Santa Maria air made for steak and ribs and pork chops that would top some fo the best steak places and restaurants in the country. The meat melted in your mouth and the taste lingered like a fine wine. The Ribs were bone tickling tender and tasty and I dont' do pork chops but these were white and tender and just juicy enough.

A big platter of homecut french fries and baked potato (that MileCrazy devoured) and othe rchoices made for the perfect birthday meal.

We were so stuffed but managed to make room for ice cream and a picture with Miss Christmas tree before throwing in the towel.

WIth several courses and desert and entertainment from the BBQ Grillers, the price for three was around 80 bucks! (A steak in NYC at a godo place goes for 30-40.)

Brothers Newself and MileCrazy can probably better describe this better but I say If you want to feast on barbeque or beef or pork you can get it here with great service at a great price

One of the best birthday feasts ever! Thanks boys!

JOCKOS: EIGHT PAWS UP AND AMONG MY NEW TOP TEN DINING PLACES! ALONG WITH BABES!

When are we going again brothers?

Ketel One

Santa Maria shuts down for the night early as we discovered. Tish was working upstairs at Pepper Santas so we headed over to the hotel bar where I tried a Ketel one. (It's some schandanaviel vodka.) first ordered it with tonic, but newself said that was wrong. Drank it and then had a second one straight which went down nice.

We asked for nightlife, maybe a game of pool as well, so we headed out to find it.

After passing two palces and having a beer in another we found a non describe but loud place (can't think of the name.) It had a pool table which MileCrazy or FlyerSlim (as I call him) wanted. The place had karocki night and even I did not want to attempt to sing (although I know my buddies, my pals and my chums Newself and MileCrazy wanted me to )

No competition for Sting here, or even the "Jingle Cats."

We played a round of pool. My game with MileCrazy lasted 2 minutes when on my first good shot I knocked in -- the eight ball
Newself and MileCrazy had a godo roudn but FlyerSlim came out victorious.

We headed back to the hotel for one more round of Ketel and water for newself and then went off to a snoring mileage run.

Next: The Party Continues
