Although my wife does not like traveling on different tickets for a journey (i.e. MAD-LHR on the DONE5, then a seperate ticket to JFK,, and EZE-MIA transit MIA-LGA) in case we miss a connection/snowstorm, with the cost vs. J or a circle fare, it certainly seems the economical way to go.
We try to make sure that we have at least an overnight connections between the first ticket (the positioning flights) and the second ticket (the round-the-world), to allow for delays in the positioning flights.
