If it's not a weekend, you could take the FCC train to St Pancras, then the Piccadilly line from there. It's probably just as slow, or slower, but at least a little easier on connections (with St Pancras being recently refurbished).

There is also a coach from Gatwick to Heathrow, but I would guess that's expensive.
