The foto-camera citations here are cold, factual, and unforgiving. The idea of course is not to subsidize our economy, but to avoid speeding accidents resulting from the " Le Mans, or The Italian Job " film mindset. Many see these films, or read 911 (as I do) and believe that this is just what Summer in the Alpenland is for.
Most moving and parking citation fines here usally start at 60 CHF. You can usually pay them from any North American bank with the add-on fees, of course.
It was very gracious of Rudi to step forward for another FT member here and get his fine paid !
Travellers here should take note of the 30 day fine period, as it may take awhile for a rental or car-hire agency to actually track you down. The clock is still running, and the added fine fees get SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive from that point on. Better to agree to the rental agency paying it for you promptly, than trying to explain or fight it remotely.
My advice to travellers in North America, or Europe: " Slow down and enjoy the view."
