Probably illegal, but get a mate (or someone in Australia) to do a few SYD-MEL/BNE runs. Total outlay, ~$400, and you don't have to sit on a plane for 20+ hours.

(I only say this as there is zero security checks for ID in Australia, ie, Next Gen check-in and then board plane)
