The redemption of tickets that only includes the fare and not taxes has been well known for a long time, but that doesn't make it any easier for us trying to get some cheap tickets for a short holiday... and CX isn't making it any easier by upping the surcharge so much in recent times (to be fair, all airlines do, but still...).
