agree - the grounds are beautiful! the lush vegetation, flower and the lawn are gorgeous.
We also went to Caneel Bay for drinks - it is lovely. the big plus is that it has great beaches on the property, which is rare in St. John since almost all good beaches are within the national park and all homes are built on the hillside. However, if you will be driving to beaches anyway, then it might be better to rent a villa (for the price Caneel charges). Facilities were nice, but didn't blow my mind (nice bar, two restaurants, tennis courts and that's about it). Pool is almost non-existent, but beaches on the property are fantastic! We didn't see the rooms. The beachfront rooms are literally steps from the water! those would be my first choice.
