At last, a positive thread about BA!

I used to fly VS. However I had a period of not flying so my status fell back. When I started travelling again I evaluated my options to my regular destinations, looking primarily for a British airline. This may seem xenophobic, but many of my trips are full of frustration with the local culture. So it is a massive delight to take that step through the door and get the sense you have arrived back home, even if it is home in a metal tube. A strong factor in BA's favour was that the crew outclassed VS IMHO, being more concerned with their customers than their own 'funky' self image. BA's loyalty scheme allowed more reward opportunities than the competition: A wider choice of reward destinations and arguably more availability on my routes. It was this that finally swung it.
