following diveplay's model
in 2010, 8 times seated in BE cabin, on 3 trips with a total of 10 legs with BE cabins.
3 times on BE award tickets (1 trip)
2 times on paid BE (1 trip, I fare PIT-TXL)
2 times on opup (1 trip, total 3 segments, missed one opup, paid class was U)
1 time with a very nice ticket agent who upgraded me (1 trip, 2 segments, paid class was T)
so counting the award ticket I guess I "paid" for BE about half the time.
