You could always shell out for expertflyer. Although, keep in mind that your plan will only work if the flight does not have a WT+ section.
I'd check before you buy because I don't think ExpertFlyer shows BA award inventory.
The only other place I know that shows BA awards (but not upgrades) reliably is qantas.com
