Interesting news on DL interiors

I spoke with DL's IFE/Interiors manager today, and I asked him a few questions.

For the 763ER mods, he said that it should be coming out soon. One aircraft has been in mods since December, and the reason is because DL needs to get approval on the new interior, including bins, sidewalls, and IFE. The interior will be almost exactly like the 764ER (including pivot bins), with a few minor differences (possible examples being LED reading lights).

For the domestic fleet, he said that new IFE installations won't be done until at least 2012 depending on the economy. When the time is right, the MD-90s will be first in line for the new IFE installations. Also, some aircraft will be removed from the fleet such as older 757s.

Now, another interesting thing that he told me is that a new Y seat (B/E Aerospace Pinnacle) will be installed on the A330 fleet when mods begin. DL is working with Panasonic to get the Eco 9i monitors approved for the B/E Aerospace Pinnacle.

What does anyone think here?
