Business class will always be 2+2. On non refurbished aircraft, the B and E seats will be left empty. On aircraft with convertible (squishy) seating, they should be left in the economy layout. However, on refurbished aircraft (with the ex-LH seats) the middle seat will be blocked with the fold down table and the centre armrests moved in to widen the available room in the A C D and F seats. All the short haul aircraft should have the new seats in the next couple of months. I can hear the next question - why don't we squish the convertible seats when we have them (collapsing the ABC seats and widening the DEF seats). The problem is the front row of the economy cabin. To avoid smashing the knees of the passenger in the C seat of the first row of economy with the trolley, we'd normally squish the first row of the ABC seats in economy. That then causes problems when we change the aircraft at the last minute as we may have someone booked in the B seat which disappears when we convert the seats. To avoid this problem we should be leaving the convertible seats in the economy layout. I hope that makes some sort of sense, it's late and it could be complete gobbledygook!
