I have to second some of the other replies in the thread. Don't base your employment on just DTS. The interface may be different but behind it is still Carlson Travel.
I've been a civil servant for almost 19 years and active duty before that. I'm in SAN which is of course a non hub city. Because of changes to City Pairs over the years I've maintained a FF account only in 1 each of the 3 major alliances. I've usually managed to keep status in 2 of the 3. For me more than one airline in an alliance would be a waste. Sometimes I make up the miles going on an unplanned trip on a non city pair to to some garden spot chasing a helicopter that needs fixed.
West coast to Asia city pairs can be good for status but contract changes can knock it out for the next year. I've had that happen back and forth with AA, DL and UA.
