I am considering applying for a job in a civilian position.

I'm currently an employee for a private company, and my manager has always given me some leeway in choosing my flights as long as the price is reasonable. Because of that, I've been able to pick DL for most of my flights and have been either a FO or GM the past 5 years. I'm content with that.

If I were to be offered and accept this civilian position, I will have to go through DTS to book my travel. I haven't seen the nuts-and-bolts of DTS, but for those who have used it, can you tell me how easy or difficult it would be continue to choose DL on a consistent basis? I do not like the thought of having to take some random airline (US, AA, UA, etc) where I have no status.

(Mods - feel free to move to TravelBuzz if necessary)

It depends on which carrier won the bid for the routing you are flying - DTS typically only offers those flights, particularly in the US. Google GSA city pairs and you can look up the carrier that typically flies your routing on government fares, which is what DTS primarily offers.

Selecting hotels is pretty easy and rental cars is always the lowest offered even though it will show you multiple rental car agencies.

Depending on your destination, you could end up on any of the carriers and it can change each fiscal year (Oct 1st).

I hope this helps!
