Questions re: plane swaps & award tickets - upcoming trip
I've got a int'l F award trip starting Thursday.
Just noticed the 777 on my UA944 ORD-FRA flight on 6/9 is showing new configuration on unitedcargo. I realize it can get swapped back. But I was reading the where to sit on 777 & realized that the new F has less seats than the old F.
So it started me thinking....
Q1: So what happens if the flight is fully booked in F on old config & it switches to new config? How do they figure out gets bumped - and do they get downgraded or switched to next UA flight?
Q2: If the subsequent flight shows seats for sale, but no XF, do you have to wait for the next flight where XF is available?
Q3: If they do put you on the next flight & it blows your connection on LH in Europe to your next destination, will LH put you on the next available flight given it's an award ticket? Do you have to purchase the onward?
Q4: If the inbound flight connecting to UA944 gets canceled & you miss UA944, will they automatically put you on the other (this might relate to Q2 & 3)?
Q5: If the inbound flight to UA944 gets canceled, but you can make UA944 by driving like a banshee 4hours, will the originating airport safeguard your ressie or does the itin get canceled because you missed the first leg?
Q6: Why does dotbomb not want to sell UA944 or UA940 tickets in F or C? If you do a book flights for purchase & plug in this Thursday, it will only show flying ORD-FRA in F via YYZ or YUL. C routes you through PHL, ATL & EWR. If you plug in E it brings up both UA non-stop flights, but not when you're trying to book F or C. The only way to show those flights is to do a dummy booking w/ miles. You'd think dotbomb would want to show its own flights first, especially since there are seats for sale. Tres weird - or should I say tres bomb.
I think I'm fine on this upcoming trip (well seatwise; delays or cancellations would be a problem), but if by chance any of the above occurred I'd like to know my options. I've been planning this trip for months & quite looking forward to it.
Cheers.
