Hmm, I like sitting on the right as you come into EDI over the Forth (which IME is more likely than coming in over Livingston), as you get a glimpse of the Forth bridges while on approach and it really feels like coming home to me. Especially if the sun is starting to set, reflecting off the water, and the sky is a lovely dusky pinky/blue...although left does let you see the entire city.
If approaching EDI from the west (over Livingston), from the port side of the aircraft you can marvel at the views of Grangemouth,
followed by The Uluru of Scotland. The mighty and impressive Broxburn Bing. Shaleopolis central itself!
