Especially if the sun is starting to set, reflecting off the water, and the sky is a lovely dusky pinky/blue...although left does let you see the entire city.
If approaching EDI from the west (over Livingston), from the port side of the aircraft you can marvel at the views of Grangemouth,



followed by The Uluru of Scotland. The mighty and impressive Broxburn Bing. Shaleopolis central itself!
