Are you saying that you do not also engage the lock, housekeeping is bypassing the locking mechanism, or that the locking mechanism does not work? If it is one of the latter two, then this definitely needs to be reported to the hotel so that they can correct/fix it. If it is the former, it definitely has become a problem, but making sure the locking mechanism is also engaged will prevent housekeeping from being able to physically open the door (only to be caught by the latch bar).

I think his gripe -- which is extremely legit -- is that housekeeping attempts to enter and the racket wakes him up.
(Rant: People come on here and complain...which is fine. That is certainly an aspect of Flyertalk -- to warn members about hotel issues. But, it is just as important to let Starwood know about these problems. A hotel manager would much rather you report the issue (so that it can be corrected) than lose your business. Plus, you will be doing others a favor if the hotel addresses said problem. It is important to report problems.)
