I understand that many offers will have restrictions. Again, the curiosity here is that it's not readily apparent to me why this particular restriction exists. Can't use a free room during high season--maybe you don't like it, but you know it's because the property can likely otherwise get revenue for that room. Can't use a Saver Award on certain flights--maybe you don't like it, but presumably the airline thinks it can sell that seat or at least extract more miles for it based on the limited availability. Can't get certain fares without an advance purchase--maybe you don't like it, but the airline thinks it can get more money from you because you have less flexibility and likely aren't traveling for leisure. But can't put two people on the same flight on the same PNR? You just have a hassle booking the two people on the same flight on different PNRs. It doesn't get the airline anymore revenue. All that it does is cause inconveniences for the passengers--many of whom are your better customers.
