I believe this is a system limitation (and since it's a limitation of the system, you can't just override it, otherwise it wouldn't be a limitation would it?). I believe it's the same limitation that doesn't allow you to have a Y class and a C class passenger on the same PNR, or an award and a paid ticket on the same PNR (because all passengers on the same PNR need to have the same fare calculation).
