This is incorrect. As stated by others previously, BN(O) is a bona fide passport and you are entitled to full British consular assistance and protection when travelling, except when in HK and China.
BN(O) is a "special" category of British citizens granted to those who held BDTC passports in Hong Kong prior to July 1, 1997 as well as permanent 3* HKID. In the BN(O) passport, it is endorsed that the holder has the right of abode in Hong Kong and also does not require a visa to visit UK. BN(O) holders do not automatically have the right of abode in the UK.
One must not confused the "right of
abode" (in Hong Kong) with the "right to
land" (in Hong Kong). Totally two different things.
