This is my 1st trip report on FlyerTalk!

I'm definitely not as good as tfung at trip reports, and I can't remember all the details.

I was traveling with my dad for a trip to visit my relatives.

Check in at Taipei Domestic Airport was fairly quick. This was my first time flying domestically and it was interesting to see all the carriers. I have never heard of Uniair, FAT, and TransAsia Airways. I had no luggage to check, just a CD-player box for my grandpa and a bag. Unfortunately I wasn't assigned a window seat. Not a big deal, as the flight time was less then an hour. We went through security and they had a slight problem with my aerosol gel can. I guess airport security is a lot tighter in Taiwan. If you have even been to T1 of Chiang Kai Shek (TPE), remember that big sign before you go through the security gates that says something to the effect of "Bringing a bomb or a gun is punishable by death in Taiwan." Well the airport security finally let me go through with it. We waited at our gate for a few minutes. I think the FAT color scheme is really boring. Anyways, boarding commensed shortly. The f/a were very friendly, always carrying a smile. They even reloacted us closer to the front of the plane and stored our carryons. I think U.S. airlines f/a could use a big lesson from these f/a. The seats were fairly comfortable. The taxi to the rwy was short and we were in the air pretty quickly from boarding to takeoff. The safety briefing was done in 4 languages so by the time it was finished we were almost ready to roll down the rwy. Taipei is ALWAYS overcasted, so there was a bit of little bumps when climbing. A while after we leveled off, the service started. We got a cheese sandwich and a choice of juice, tea, or coffee. Water was also handed out. I had the juice. Pretty impressive for a 45 minute flight. The cheese sandwich was nothing special, but I was hungary so I ate it. The juice tasted pretty bad. We landed at TNN on time and taxied to the tarmac. We left the aircraft through stairways and then we were loaded us onto the bus that took us to the passenger terminal. From ground level, the 757 looks pretty impressive! The bus dropped us off and my aunt was there to pick us up.

The terminal at TNN is really small. Just one building with a checkin counter, security gates, and a "gate", which was a room with a door to board the bus to take people to the tarmac. Anyways, we checked in with 1 carryon. I was a tad disappointed with not getting a window seat. We proceeded to the security gates. They made me show them the aerosol gel can. After I dug it out, they let me go. We waited a while and boarded the bus. Our flight was next to a TransAsia Airways A320. Anyways, we boarded the aircraft and took our seats. Boarding finished rather quickly and we were on our way. Taxi was short and we were soon rolling down the rwy. Nothing special about this flight. The service was the same sandwich and drink. I decided to save the sandwich for my friend who loved it. Taipei was overcasted again, and there was minor turbulance on approach to TSA. It seems like there are prerecorded messages for turbulance. Instead of the pilot coming on the intercom to say we will be expecting turbulance, a prerecorded message, with the same voice as the one used in NRT for boarding calls, said "Ladies and gentlemen, we will be expecting some turbulance. Please fasten your seat belts and remain seated. Thank you." Landing in Taipei was a bit rough, the approach looked pretty fast, and we slammed onto the rwy. Taxi was short, and we left the aircraft to meet some cousins downstairs. I had no idea who they were, so I smiled and played along.

In conclusion, 2 great flights with friendly f/a. I would recommend FAT if you are flying domestically in Taiwan.
