I am an Air Canada pensioner and I am of the opinion that if current employees were given a fair chance to choose whether new hires were to have a dc plan vs the db plan they wouldn't care. Back during the CCAA proceedings an Executive member of the IAM actually supported the Companys position in that regard and was summarily removed form his position by the International Head of the Union. I know that at that time the majority of members in our union would have backed the Company. We would have been given a choice of whether we wanted to stay in DB or switch so the only people who would have been effected are new hires and that is still the case. This whole thing is just another example of the lunacy of AC's unions.
