Tuffnell Park I chose at random, it is proper London and I am sure you will have a great time, Kentish Town next door is positively gentrified, it even has an organic shop!
Kentish Town (and Gospel Oak) next door also have some of the more run-down council estates in NW London. The contrast between South End Green (nearly as posh as Hampstead village) and Malden Road not half a mile away is rather staggering.
