You have to remember that UA uses NRT as a hub to connect to other Asian cities. HND is not designed for connections outside Japan.

Although if that DL flight arrives at 11 pm then it could provide good connections to Asia since there are several past midnight flights to BKK and SIN but that would involve mixing alliances.
