itunes seems the the way to go--not free, but almost.
Thanks again
"Free" can mean something else. If I buy something through the BA eStore portal that I'd be purchasing anyway - then to me those are "free" miles.
I lucked out about 10 years ago. Through a deal my old company made with BA I was given BAEC Silver for a year and 10,000 miles. I've been "nursing" those miles ever since.
I now love the BA eStore (vs AA's). It seems to give much better mileage deals (for instance, there was a double mile deal awhile back, and a Nordstroms purchase gave you 24 miles per $), and has been absolutely reliable in posting the miles to my account - NOT the case with AA's abysmal portal.
So for U.S. based folks I heartily recommend using BA's eStore to not only keep your miles from expiring, but for also adding to your balances significantly. For me, my criteria for mileage accruing, online shopping is that shipping must be free and I must be able to return the item to the physical store if I don't like it.
