Is this true? I was just asked to do this for a Loews hotel stay that I wanted to prepay for myself (I wanted bonus rewards for the cost of the stay but the stay was after the promotion ended). I thought it was strange that I needed to fill out this form just to make a payment on my own reservation? (They took my deposit on the phone no problem.)

let me be clear...the credit card companies do not say you can't accept a fax of a credit card.....but (big but) the pentalties for any loss of data is huge...anyone accepting a form such as the one you completed needs to guarantee it's security for eternity (for more information you can google "PCI" or "Payment Card Industry security requirements"....first it was retailers targeted by hackers, recently it's been the travel industry with hotel's the easiest target due to the network structure (thankfully none of the big companies have been successfully hacked yet but there are chains that have been hit)
