Having been burned badly a few times, I try to adhere to that strategy as much as possible these days. Furthermore, whenever attempting same day meetings, I always make contingency plans that would allow the meetings to take place during the evening or the following day; always bring a change of clothes on "day trips" that are dependent on Chinese airlines.
