if this is done with a Credit Card the rules have changes greatly over the past few years - the Credit Card companies have mandated that all networks over which any credit card data flows meet certain standards, in addition anyone who accepts credit cards is no longer able to keep any fully disclosed credit card information period (no more faxes, no more forms, no more emails etc..they just aren't allowed)...the days of "fax over the front and back of your card and you'll be all set" are long gone thanks to ID theft
