Where it used to be nearly impossible to find a seat if you got there after 615am, I have found multiple seating options available recently. It actually makes me (as a Gold who travels primarily without a companion) view the removal of the guest benefit in a somewhat positive light.

Interesting. I have only taken a single EK flight since the change, and that was ex-USA, and I didn't notice much of a difference. That being said, the IAH lounge was never too crowded in the first place. And I have always been in favor of that particular rule change.
