They have provided a room upgrade to a room which will accommodate 3 people even though on an award night but are charging their extra bed fee. I think that the hotel is being pretty reasonable given that rooms for 3 people are not even offered as award nights from what I can see and that only the suites even have an option for a rollaway bed
That it is CHF92 and not USD10 or 20 etc is just the pricing structure that the hotel seems to have and doesnt seem to be an attempt to overcharge
Agreed. OP should have booked two rooms in award night. Or simply avoid. however I would like to thank OP to share the charge information.
The culture around the world can come in many different forms. Things can be very different country by country. As a seasoned traveler, you have to learn the lessons by the hard way. never ever assume the same rules applies to every hotels in the hotel chain. For instance, EU is very much regulated. Especially in Switzerland, France and Italy, the hotel charge can be extrodinary as well the complicity of the rules.
IC geneva has a regular rate of around CHF300-400 (aka CHF150-200 per person in double occupancy). CHF90 is around one third or one quarter of the regular room rate. You still save money.
