It really depends on what you're looking for. The rooms will all be pretty much the same except for Marina del Ray (very small rooms). Half Moon Bay's setting is one of the best in northern Cal but it wears off quickly after you're driving 20+ minutes anywhere (Highway 1 isn't for the faint of heart and if you add in fog...and 92 east isn't great when you're sitting in traffic.

San Francisco and Laguna Niguel are probably your best bets. Haven't tried the newest Ritz in downtown LA.
